Cajun/Zydeco

Cajun and Zydeco dance are partner dances with lively music originating in the early 20th century among the Francophone Creole peoples of Acadiana  of South-West Louisiana. Cajun dance is frequently a two-step, waltz, or sometimes jitterbug.  Zydeco has its roots in the heavily syncopated zydeco music, with small quick sideways steps and fill-ins like kicks, toe or heel taps when there are pauses in the beat. The “Cajun Renaissance" incorporates modern elements of folk, blues, jazz, swamp pop, and bluegrass. Easy to learn, dancers find themselves two-stepping and waltzing with different partners, having a lot of fun.
