BALLROOM

Ballroom dances, with their European and Latin roots, are enjoyed socially and competitively around the world. The repertoire includes  old European folk dances such as the waltz and minuet; the tango, rumba, and cha-cha from Latin America; and 20th-century dances like the foxtrot, quickstep, and swing.  Ballroom dance refers to almost any type of partner dancing as recreation. Once an expression of elite society, ballroom dance expanded its appeal and adapted in response to contemporary culture.
