New Paltz Contra Dance Suspended: Help Needed
Would you like a monthly contra dance in the New Paltz, NY area?
The New Paltz dance has enlivened the local traditional dance and music scene since about 1992. It is now temporarily (?) suspended. Our usual halls were not available this fall, and increased family and job demands leave me with not enough time for critical tasks: Arranging a hall, circulating publicity, and running the dance evening.
If only a couple of people are willing to take on these tasks with energy and dedication, the dance series may continue beginning in November or January! Helping create such an exciting event can be rewarding. Please contact me at Eric Hollman or 845-883-4467.
The HVCD New Paltz dance is a (generally) small, local dance with excellent music and a strong sense of community! It has introduced hundreds to contra dancing and fiddle music, showcased national and local musicians, sponsored many community benefits, and hosted workshops from Passionate Waltzing to Swing to Family Dances. I hope that many of you would like it to continue as much as I do.
Thank you for many years of support, and I hope to see you dancin'!
