An english country dance is a lot like a contra dance (which is similar to a square dance, but more fun!) An english country dance is somewhat less aerobic than a contra dance, but many of the figures are the same, for example, swing your partner, do-si-do. The arrangement of dancers is such that you do not have to know the figures well to do the dance. The music is traditional New England folk music, and there is a caller who announces the figures as the dance progresses. Beginners are very welcome at this dance. We love beginers! It's a very welcoming group, dress is very casual.
